Or, Because Two Careers Just Aren't Enough...
In September 2005, wandering about the Canadian National Exhibition, Sarah Jane Elliott and I bought a ridiculously delicious slushie and got to talking: there is not, we decided, enough truly fabulous, truly sparkly, truly unique jewellery in the world.
Maybe it was the late summer heat. Maybe it was the displays in the international centre. Maybe it was the slushie. But for whatever reason, we concluded that we were just the people to do something about that little problem.
Yes, in addition to working full time and trying to start a writing career, we decided to create a jewellery design company: Stellar Magpie Creations.
I blame equal parts of inspiration, insanity and sugar-fueled glee.
But what might have been a passing hobby has turned into something much more. Slowly, slowly, we're attending craft shows and convention art shows, selling our work in stores and online.
